The last few months, MCRTL has been unusually busy getting involved with local community events. We’ve literally been all over the map manning our booths to share the pro-life message!
November 8, Johnny, Teresa and Donna hosted a booth at PACN’s SuperHero Dash fundraiser. This was PACN’s 4th annual event, with lots of fun activities for all ages. Along with our baby models, flyers and contest information, we provided balloon sculptures for our booth visitors. We also set up a table with art supplies for the kids to make posters to enter in our 1st ever Pro-Life Poster Contest.
During the summer, MCRTL hosted a booth for the fourth year in a row at THSC’s Home School Convention. We always meet wonderful people from all over the Houston area and have the opportunity to talk about our many student activities, contests, educational seminars, etc. Adults and children alike are always fascinated by our fetal models and intrigued as we describe the babies’ development and activity even before birth. They leave with a new enthusiasm for God’s gift of life and with information to share with others we will never meet!
At Faithfest, a day of worship and fun activities sponsored by a group of local churches in September, we offered balloon sculptures for the very first time. They were a hit with the kids and as the children came to our booth – so did their parents! Joyce, Lynne, Martha, and Teresa all took turns visiting with local residents, answering questions and explaining the baby model display, while Donna took requests for doggies, flowers, and swords from the kiddos. It was a beautiful day of worship and praise as well! An added blessing was that MCRTL’s newest Dr. Joseph Graham Pro-life scholar, Rachel Sutton, opened the day’s worship performances with her music team. (Photos courtesy of the Conroe Courier.)
Joyce and Lynne man the booth at the 40 Days for Life Rally at Sacred Heart Church
MCRTL had an information booth and provided 40 Days for Life t-shirts, yard signs and other vigil tools at MCRTL’s 40 Days for Life Kickoff Rally in September.
At Tomball Pregnancy Center’s New Life 5K Run, Donna got a chance to man a booth on her own for the first time. It was a bit misty and windy, but in spite of the weather challenges, she was able to demo the baby model display and pass out lots of flyers for our upcoming contests to students of all ages. She also passed out 40 Days for Life Kickoff flyers to the crowds along the run. She kept busy!
Pastor Bill Posey of Living Way UMC invited MCRTL to host a booth at their annual Hallelujah Festival where we got to meet many of East Conroe’s residents who were out trick or treating with their families. The event attracted hundreds and we spent the evening blowing up and twisting balloon sculptures as fast as we could and talking to folks about the immeasurable value of life! We were thrilled to be a part of such a meaningful community outreach effort.
