In 2013 Montgomery County Right to Life became the first TRTL chapter to directly sponsor a Dr. Joseph Graham Pro-Life Fellow. The Dr. Joseph Graham Fellowship for College Pro-Life Leaders program was started by Texas Right to Life in 2008 in order to educate and train the next generation of Pro-Life leaders. Pro-Life college leaders can earn up to $8000 ($2000 per year) throughout their undergraduate collegiate career while promoting a Culture of Life on campus. What a wonderful opportunity to minister life in our community and help pay for college!
MCRTL’s vision is to sponsor Dr. Joseph Graham Pro-Life Fellows on all of our area Lone Star College campuses. Lone Star is an integral part of our community. By supporting the efforts of these Pro-Life Fellows we are helping form a stronger commitment to life among our youth and throughout our society.
Our first MCRTL Fellow, Christian Rodgers, also became the first Dr. Joseph Graham scholarship recipient to serve on a junior college campus. Christian did a wonderful job establishing, Lone Star Right to Life, on the Montgomery Campus of Lone Star College. Lone Star Right to Life became a sanctioned campus club in 2014. If you are interested in participating in Lone Star Right to Life, please visit the club’s Facebook page, Lone Star Right to Life.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE FALL OF 2017!
Applications must be received by Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Please note the requirements to become a MCRTL sponsored scholarship recipient are slightly different than for applications to the 4 year college campuses.
# 1: Lone Star College applicants need only 2 years of eligibility remaining.
# 2: If applying for a LSC position please note that on your application.
This year we are again looking for applicants for the LSC- Montgomery Campus but also are focused on naming recipients who will be attending the LSC – Tomball campus. We want to have Pro-Life Fellows and Pro-Life clubs on both campuses in 2017!
Introducing Merit Marshall and Aleyah Lyles
Merit Marshall and Aleyah Lyles are MCRTL’s new Pro-Life Fellows for 2016-17. They will join Rachael Sutton at Lone Star College – Montgomery in The Woodlands. So for the 2016-17 school term MCRTL will have three fellows at Lone Star!
Although Merit will be a new Pro-Life fellow this fall, he has already been substantially involved in the Lone Star Right to Life group this past year. Merit is a passionate, hard-working, and dedicated advocate of pro-life values on campus and was just voted president of the club, taking over from Duncan Tiemeyer.
“I do believe that God has great things planned for Lone Star Right to Life. With a new horizon upon us, we will seize the opportunity to spread the Pro-Life movement throughout the greater Houston area. With love being what drives, I am confident we shall achieve our goals.”
Aleyah Lyles is excited to be joining Lone Star Right to Life as a new fellow and a new member! She has already made a significant impact as a ‘voice for life’ by speaking at this year’s MCRTL Dinner for Life as the first place winner of MCRTL’s annual Pro-Life Oratory Contest! Aleyah will represent Texas in the Oratory Contest at the National Right to Life convention this July, on a trip generously underwritten by Texas Right to Life.
“Thank you so much for this life-giving opportunity to share with my generation truth, hope, and life! Deuteronomy 30:19 has been my prayer, ‘I call heaven and earth witness today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.’ I pray that God will use the LSC- Montgomery Right to Life group to welcome and declare life for our campus and all the colleges within Texas.” Aleyah Lyles
