On January 22, Pro-Life Americans watched in horror as Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law New York’s Reproductive Health Act, making late-term abortions available up until birth in the state. As the governor and democratic legislators celebrated, Pro-Life advocates grieved over the passing of this horrific law and what it will mean for babies, mothers, fathers, and our nation.
While the Texas legislature remains predominantly Pro-Life, we can never take our state laws for granted. We as citizens need to be vigilant to understand and support the proposed bills which can provide further protection for the unborn, disabled, sick, and elderly.
What an appropriate time to hear from this month’s speaker, Emily Cook, General Counsel for Texas Right to Life. She will update us on the priority Pro-Life bills currently being proposed in our Texas State Legislature’s 86th Session. The top four include:
1. Preborn NonDiscrimination Act (PreNDA)
2. Repeal anti-Life “10-Day Law” in the Texas Advance Directives Act
3. Stop funding abortion with state and local tax dollars
4. Conscience protections for healthcare
