Essay Contest

The MCRTL Essay Contest is actually 2 contests – a junior high contest and a senior high contest.  Each year the Essay Contest provides a wonderful conversation starter for parents and students regarding the fundamental issue of the value of life!  This outreach is an opportunity for MCRTL to further encourage a Pro-Life worldview in our community.

Through the process of composing the essays, contest participants examine their beliefs regarding the sanctity of life and receive training in communicating those beliefs.  Every year the student essays speak powerfully to the value of life and these young leaders’ commitment to it!

The Junior High Essay Contest is for grades 7 – 9. The Senior High Essay Contest is for grades 10-12. Students express their Pro-Life views through essays of 300-500 words.  First through third place finishers in each contest are awarded cash prizes.

Submission deadline is November 2, 2018.

We encourage classrooms, youth groups and Sunday School classes to use the Essay Contest as a class project.  MCRTL will provide funding for “ice cream” parties for those groups in addition to the individual prize money that was awarded. This further reinforces the value of participation in the Essay Contest – among those who won and those who did not receive individual awards.

The essay topic is,  “Why are you Pro-Life?”

At the conclusion of MCRTL’s local contest each year, we encourage all participants to use the feedback our local contest judges provide to evaluate their essays and then enter the national contest.  This gives the students another opportunity to win and helps them further hone their message for Life.  Kate submitted her essay and won!
